ITINERARY:

DAY 1:

Arrive into Siem Reap, where you will be met and driven to your hotel.  Take this afternoon and evening off to relax and get settled in to your holiday and the surrounding. Evening will be at leisure to enjoy some fantastic food and wander a local night market. We will be happy to make recommendations and book at table at one of the many excellent local restaurants in Siem Reap.

DAY 2:

Explore the temples of Siem Reap: Ta Phrom, Bayon, Baphoun, Phimean Akas, The Royal Enclosure, Terrace of Elephants and Leper King. Afterwards, return to town for lunch before returning in the late afternoon for your visit to Angkor Wat, the grandest of all temples. After take a moment to relax on the wall of the ancient city of Angkor Thom to take in sunset.

DAY 3:

Full-day excursion to the waterfall of Phnom Kulen, where the 9th century ruler, King Jayavarma II, proclaimed independence from Java. You will also visit Preah Ang Thom with its giant statue of the reclining Buddha, and the Banteay Srei temple loosely translated as “Citadel of Women.” On the return to Siem Reap there will be a stop at the Cambodia Land Mine Museum. The tour finishes with the sunset at Pre Rup Temple.

DAY 4:

Morning at leisure in Siem Reap to further explore or simply relax after a busy start to your holiday. Perhaps you can return to any of the previous temples at sunrise, cycle around the Angkor complex, hop on a jeep for an off-road experience, shop the local markets or partake in a pottery class. In the early afternoon you will be met at your hotel and driven to Sihanoukville, where you can enjoy a few days of rest and relaxation on the beach.

DAYS 5-7:

Days at leisure in Sihanoukville. During your stay here we recommend a boat trip to Ream National Park which is home to a number of rare birds and animals. We also suggest visits to Bamboo Island, Chalus Island and Ta Kiev Island, where you can experience fishing trips with local fishermen.

DAY 8:

Transfer from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh, with an en route visit by tuktuk to the delicious Friends Restaurant, a project dedicated to supporting street children. In the afternoon visit the sobering Toul Sleng Museum, the site of what was the notorious S-21 security prison under Pol Pot.
